FOSSILIZED INSECTS

Specimens in this section were excavated from a quarry in Florissant (Teller County, Colorado) and collected by Mr. Joseph Cancellare who kindly allowed us to photograph his insect fossils. These images represent only a small part of his collection; which “consists of 2,400 catalogued plants, insects, and fish fossils.” For more information about Mr. Cancellare’s fossils go to:

Estimated age of these insect fossils is 34.07 +/- 0.10 million years old.
