All Eucalyptus trees showed significant damage with abundant leaf galls. Although the plant damage (leaf galls) was widespread, the adult stage of this pest was extremely difficult to find at the time of sampling. The parasitoid (Closterocerus chamaeleon) associated with Ophelimus maskelli was incredibly abundant. Plant damage was limited to Eucalyptus trees. Three locations in the city of Nogales were sampled and only one did not have the pest. O. maskelli presence in the continental US has been limited to California.
