12 of these beetles were eating large bones of an unidentified mammal. The bones appeared to be only a portion of the knee.
Determined by Jason T. Botz who said: “The L:W ratios of the pronotum and elytra, as well as the sides of the head continuing parallel behind the eyes, put this in Bothrotes. Species IDs on males are tricky, but I would tentatively put it in B. plumbeus based on the widest point of the elytra being somewhat behind the middle.”
