TEACHING • RESEARCH • EXTENSION • SERVICEEducational programs of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service are open to all people without regard to race, color, sex, disability, religion, age, or national origin. *Family and Consumer Sciences is a discipline that combines aspects of social and natural science. County Extension Agents in the field of FCS educate the members of their community in many ways. They seek to connect people to the many relationships between individuals, their families, their communities, and their environment in which they live. The field represents many disciplines including consumer sciences, apparel design, as well as other related subjects. FCS Education is the focus of individuals and families living in society throughout their entire life span. The focus on families/individuals and their interrelationships with their community is an important awareness to help communities thrive. FCS is also known as human sciences or home economics. It is also sometimes referred to as human ecology, though this term is used for several disciplines.
